Cheshire Food Hub has helped coordinate food and transport support across Cheshire West and Chester as part of the emergency response to the disruption caused by Storm Christoph.

While the Cheshire Food Hub was set up earlier in the pandemic to provide food support for people in these challenging times, it has found itself at the heart of this recent emergency, working closely with a number of other organisations to make sure people receive the support they need.

Transport to local hotels has been provided for more than 70 residents so they could find shelter in a safe environment, with more than 40 of those people being supported on their return home.

Using supplies at the Food Hub, the project has been able to put together well over 100 food boxes for people needing support. By working with the likes of Soul Kitchen, the Bulls Head in Davenham and Northwich in Need, a similar number of hot meals have also been provided. People taking regular medication have been supported to pick up any prescriptions they need during their time in temporary accommodation.

The project is one of many partners involved with the Welcome Network, which coordinates food support across Cheshire West and Chester.

An interactive map is available on the Welcome Network website to highlight the food support available in your local area. Organisations providing food support can get in touch with the Welcome Network to make sure their details are added.
