With the war currently taking place in Ukraine, many of us are wondering what we can do to offer our support so we’ve pulled together some local information that might be useful.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has set up a webpage to help guide people, with information about things like visa support, Homes for Ukraine scheme and more.
There are two main schemes where Ukrainian people can come to Britain.
Many CWVA members will be leading the support for people affected by the war in Ukraine so we’ve put together a short online survey so you can let us know your current activities.
We’re still at a stage where we’re getting prepared to welcome any refugees to the UK. This survey and your responses will help us map out the support available and we can feed this information into any meetings we have with the Council and other partners.
Specific advice for charities and trustees, including setting up a new charity to provide support, safeguarding, complying with financial sanctions and more, is available on the Government website.
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) continues to call on charities and other organisations in the UK to bolster their online defences.
While the NCSC isn’t aware of any current specific threats to UK organisations in relation to events in and around Ukraine, there has been an historical pattern of cyber attacks on Ukraine with international consequences.
There’s such a wealth of knowledge and services in the community sector and many CWVA members will be able to provide support for those affected as part of what they already deliver.
