Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) is using funding from Cheshire Community Foundation (CCF) to team up with Cheshire Community Action (CCA) and deliver a Build Back Better project for community groups.

The Build Back Better project will help increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of community groups so they can continue delivering essential services for communities across west Cheshire.

It will also support groups as they look to get back to their usual activities for generating income, which are crucial for any not-for-profit organisation.

CWVA and CCA will be working with businesses across west Cheshire to organise webinars that will provide groups will valuable information and advice as they continue to cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These sessions include getting to grips with Microsoft 365, using Zoom effectively, developing your charity’s Board and much more. Any paid-for events are subsidised through the grant from CCF.

Clare Harrison, Deputy Chief Executive of Cheshire West Voluntary Action, said: “The voluntary and community sector has played a significant role in the response to the pandemic in west Cheshire.

“Many community groups have had to adapt their services and deliver them differently so the people they usually support continue to receive the help they need.

“There will no doubt be many further challenges over the coming months so it’s important we support groups to Build Back Better.

“This is an excellent project that will help groups learn valuable skills from knowledgeable businesses across west Cheshire.”

Mark Reading, Chief Operating Officer of Cheshire Community Action, said: “The demand for our support in these unprecedented times has never been as important.

“Community buildings are at the heart of many communities and supporting them to reopen safely is a key priority for CCA.

“This project will help us increase our capacity to deliver more training and support.”

Angela Richardson, Grants Director at Cheshire Community Foundation, added: “We are delighted to be able to support a project that builds skills within the sector in west Cheshire, enabling a host of voluntary and community organisations to face these challenging times with more confidence.”
